Setting up our last doll display at the State of Vermont Welcome Center in Guilford, Vermont was a blast, in part because we had the much needed help from Saylor. She is a Stone Village neighbor’s granddaughter, who said on her visit to our studio, “ I wish I had a doll when I was a little child.” My photographer/husband Lew said you can see a joyful look on our faces.
We carefully planned this display with our family, especially our oldest daughter Kate, who mapped out our work and content. My 40 year old Monogram doll is the narrator filling the conversation clouds with our story. How does one share a legacy of 54 years of doll artistry creating 15,000 dolls and nearly 500 unique designs? Historical pieces highlight our display.
